Mike says: The photo of the
band saw is how I cut the gussets and got consistent radiuses. I put a
point 30mm, 35mm, and 40mm from the edge of the board and
then by clamping it to the table with the edge just against the blade I would
put a small nail through the center of the circle I had drawn
using a compass and then place it in the correct location on the board
and rotate it through the blade. Perfect radius every time. That is how I
got the gussets. The punch (which I magnetized) is how I would install the
nails to hold the gussets in place while the glue dried. I Have been using
West Systems and T-88. I have purchased MGS for the wing spar due to the
pot life being 5 hours. I currently have the fuselage sides and all the
wing and flight control ribs completed. I Have just finished extending the
work table to 32 feet so I can begin the spar construction.
